Charming, rustic stool. Hand-made and hand-painted by artisans working with the cooperative La Semilla de Dios in Chaletenango, El Salvador.
La Semilla de Dios artisans craft wooden items painted in the famous La Palma folk art style. Founded by internationally known Salvadoran artist Fernando Llort, the cooperative paints in the simple, joyful, colorful folk art style for which Llort’s work is known. Artists draw the designs, often from memory and occasionally using stencils. Women paint the pieces by hand, a time-consuming process that requires a lot of concentration.
